A new shower door installation can transform a bathroom — and it’s one of the highest-ROI upgrades you can make before selling a home. At Tualatin Valley Glass, we’ve installed thousands of custom shower enclosures across Portland, Tigard, Beaverton, and the surrounding area. Here’s everything you need to know.

Shower Door Styles We Install

  • Frameless glass shower doors — Clean, modern look with heavy 3/8″ or 1/2″ tempered glass. No metal frame means less hardware to clean and a more open feel. Our most popular option.
  • Semi-frameless shower doors — Metal frame on the outside edges with frameless glass panels. Balances the modern look with slightly lower cost.
  • Framed shower doors — Traditional aluminum-framed enclosures. Most affordable option, available in multiple finishes.
  • Sliding (bypass) doors — Two panels that slide past each other. Ideal for tub-shower combos where a swinging door won’t work.
  • Neo-angle enclosures — Designed for corner showers with angled entry. Custom-fitted to your exact dimensions.

Shower Door Replacement: When It’s Time

Existing shower doors don’t last forever. Signs you need a shower door replacement:

  • Leaking at the bottom or sides despite new seals
  • Rollers that stick, grind, or have fallen off the track
  • Cloudy or etched glass that won’t clean
  • Outdated chrome frame that doesn’t match your remodel
  • Cracked or chipped tempered glass (this is a safety issue — replace immediately)

What Shower Door Installation Costs in Portland

  • Framed sliding door (tub) — $400-$800 installed
  • Semi-frameless pivot door — $700-$1,200 installed
  • Frameless single door — $900-$1,800 installed
  • Custom frameless enclosure — $1,500-$3,500+ installed

Every project includes a free in-home measurement, because no two shower openings are exactly the same. We template on site to ensure a perfect fit.

Our Shower Door Installation Process

  1. In-home measurement — We measure the opening, check walls for plumb, and discuss glass thickness, hardware finish, and door style.
  2. Template and fabrication — For frameless enclosures, we create a precise template. Glass is cut, polished, and holes are drilled for hardware. 2-3 week lead time.
  3. Installation — Our installers mount the hardware, set the glass, adjust the door, and seal everything. Most installations take 2-4 hours.
  4. Walk-through — We show you how the door operates, point out care tips, and clean up completely.

Hardware Finishes

We carry shower hardware in brushed nickel, chrome, matte black, oil-rubbed bronze, satin brass, and polished chrome. All hardware is sourced from CRL and C.R. Laurence — the same brands commercial glaziers trust.
